What is Theosophy?
Date: 2/8/2020 3:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: Philosophy
Presenter: Matias Cumsille
Synopsis: Theosophy is responsible for bringing the philosophies of the East to Western culture. Brought over in the early 1900s by Helen P. Blavatsky, Theosophy has had an enormous impact on the lives of many individuals over the past century. However influential, Theosophy as whole or its tenets are not well known. Is Theosophy simply a type of philosophy or is it religious in nature? Join us as we discuss Theosophy, its relation to Freemasonry, if any, and their motto of Nothing is Higher than the Truth.

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest ... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
