Is Mathematics an invention of the human mind, or part of the fabric of reality?
Date: 2/15/2020 3:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: Formal Science
Presenter: Doyle Slack
Synopsis: 19th Century physicist James Jeans said “The Universe appears to have been designed by a pure mathematician.” As Mario Livio states in his book Is God a Mathematician?, “Mathematics appears to be almost too effective in describing and explaining not only the cosmos at large, but even some of the most chaotic of human enterprises.” We will discuss some of the major mathematical discoveries in history, and debate whether they are merely cleverly devised symbols or fundamental universal principles.

Was the Occult behind the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich?
Date: 3/21/2020 3:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: History
Presenter: Aksel Suvari
Synopsis: Since their defeat in 1945 and the uncovering of the atrocities of the Holocaust, it has long been rumored that the Nazi Party was influenced or even controlled by dark forces and shadowy figures who use occult techniques to strengthen the Nazi Party. From the Thule Society and the other worldly Vril to the secret rituals of the SS at Wewelsburg Castle and the vicious attacks on Freemasonry, we will examine the hidden side of World War Two. Freemasonry has historically fought for the principles of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, principles that the Nazi Party staunchly opposed and oppressed during their short reign in Europe. Was this merely an ideological conflict or was there a secret, occult war conducted by high Nazi officials on the forces of Light and Evolution?

What is the Western Esoteric Tradition?
Date: 5/16/2020 3:30:00 PM
Topic of Study: Esotericism
Presenter: Katie Cumsille
Synopsis: Freemasonry, Gnosticism, Hermeticism, and Neoplatonism are all said to be a part of the Western Esoteric Tradition. Although these belief systems share many different aspects, they differ greatly in the other, important attributes. What are those similarities that allow academics to classify these four philosophies into one tradition? This month we will learn what aspects shape Freemasonry, Gnosticism, Hermeticism, and Neoplatonism into the Western Esoteric Tradition as well as look into each one from a 30,000 feet perspective.

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest ... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
